Peter The Great
For a tall man, Peter The Great’s statue has a small head.

Peter The Great was a Russian Tsar who came to Deptford to study ship building. Like most students, he spent most of the time getting pissed.
He brought his mates along for the good times, including a “court dwarf” according to historical records (and also featured in the statue but now boxed off due to vandalism.)
They had a load of student house parties and wrecked the estate where they were staying, owned by local John Evelyn.
Peter, in recompense for his trashing the place, planted the Old Mulbery Tree. Wander up the River Thames to see the Old Mulbery Tree and hear more tall tales of Peter The Great.
