Blackheath
More sky than you’ll find than anywhere else in London. It’s actually on a hill so the ground drops away gradually, creating a feeling of expanse you rarely find in the city.
Not a townhouse in sight.
Bikers can be found drinking tea at the Tea Hut.
Often there's a funfair or circus in town.

Once, after being laid off for a job I went for a cycle ride and ended up at Blackheath. I rode through a flock of birds who were sitting on the grass and they scattered. It was quite magical.
A young woman, student age, probably a Goldsmith's student, shouted at me.
'You dickhead!'
I looked puzzled. She said: 'do you know what you've done?'.
I said 'I have no idea'.
'Well can you at least keep an eye on my camera?' she asked as she walked towards me.
I said 'no, because you just called me a dickhead.'
I sometimes wonder what that was all about. I guess she was taking a photo of the birds.
I'd gone to Blackheath to get away from people having a go at me for no reason at work.
I suppose you can never really escape humanity. Or office politics. She treated Blackheath as her office - a pretty nice office.
The Point is nearby.
