This is a weary traveller's guide to South London, New Cross, Deptford, and beyond.

  • Underground, funny weird.
  • Curated & opinionated.
  • Completely incomplete.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What? : Could be described as a map based, curated, content website.

Where? : Newcrossities.com because that’s a cross between ā€œNew Crossā€ and ā€œcuriositiesā€. And because portmanteaus annoy my girlfriend. Which in hindsight isn’t the best reason to name something.

Why? : Read the Newcrossities creation story.

Who? : Made by Louie Christie a South London resident, adventurous tech geek, underground comedian, who once sat next to the guy at work who did the Rough Guides website.

When? : Started right around the time the author was made redundant.

How? : I'll let you know about the technology, as I work it out. In March 2020 I gave a talk about the Strawberry JAM technology used at the time. In 2026 it was migrated to use Ghost.org technology with a sprinkling of JavaScript.

How much? : The travel guide website is free. A future event listings section and/or app would cost a few quid subscription because they’d take work to maintain, keep up to date, and digital garden the weeds.
